Mouse Trap

My wonderful husband is always coming up with clever ideas for everything. Just last week we discovered we had a mouse (or 2...cause if you have 1 you know there's more!) in the house. We found mouse droppings in the dog food bowls. Now, even though our dogs LOVE to eat poop, we figured it wasn't in our best interest to feed it to them on purpose. So we knew it was time for some mouse traps. We bought a few different kinds knowing that last year we probably had one of the smartest mice in world. We called him "Einstein Mouse". He would manage to get the cheese off the mouse trap without even setting it off. So we thought we could outsmart him by using peanut butter. It would take him longer to get it off the trap allowing a better chance for the trap to go off. That didn't work either. In the end, we had to buy the sticky mouse traps, put those all around the regular mouse trap and he FINALLY got stuck.

This time, we didn't waste much time with the regular mouse traps but did set up a few in the cupboards as well as sticky traps in some of the corners. We had to be careful where we placed them because of the dogs. So Steve came up with a clever idea. Since it seemed the mice liked to eat out of the dog bowl...Steve put a sticky trap in the bowl with food on it and covered it with a weight from his lifting machine. It had a hole just big enough in the middle for a mouse to climb in but not big enough for the dogs to get their noses in and the weight held the bowl down. This morning around 5am I hear some clanking out in the kitchen. I thought to myself..YES! That damn mouse is stuck in the bowl. Now I wont have to see it because it is trapped in the bowl and Steve can deal with it when he gets home. Well, little did I know, the mouse was NOT in the bowl. I went to make my breakfast this morning and to my surprise, there stands a little mouse looking at me from behind the toaster. I screamed! Then I felt awful because it was kind of just laying there making this sad noise. I could just picture him saying "help me! help me!". Me being the animal lover I am, I wanted to let him go so bad, but then I remembered that this same mouse was the one pooping in my dogs food. So I left him there and tried to ignore him until I left for work.

So just so everyone knows, Steve said the mouse was pretty much dead by the time he got home...but he made sure he was because I didn't want a half dead mouse in my garbage LOL poor mouse. Maybe he will tell all his mousey friends not to come to our house anymore!

Tie Dyeable's

So, as we all know I have a crazy love for Halloween. With that being said, I came across the cutest homemade tie dyed baby onesie that my sister-in-law made. (She actually made a shirt for all of her kids) But I thought this was the cutest thing in the world! I can't wait to make one!!

Baby on Board!

So, the cat's finally out of the bag. Baby Breehl will be arriving around May 2, 2012. We were trying to wait a little longer before making the announcement over the world wide web, but with the way news spreads in our family, it just wasn't possible LOL! We are very excited (and a little nervous) to be on this journey, but it will all be worth it in the end. For now, things seem to be progressing fine...besides the all day nausea, lack of appetite, and migraines. UGH. I'm hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel after the first  trimester is over! Right now I'm just trying to eat when I can and sleep as much as possible!

Happy September!

Even though the weather outside today is more like July than September, I am still excited because it is one more day closer to fall. Don't get me wrong, I love summer days at the pool and enjoying warm nights outside on the deck. But Fall has to be my favorite season of all. I love the colors, smells, foods, temperatures and pretty much everything else that has to do with fall. Especially Halloween! I am trying to at least wait until October to get my decorations out, but I'm not sure I'll make it!! I can't wait for all the scary movies to be on...but I have to admit, I do enjoy watching Hocus Pocus more than once! Shh! Don't tell!

Home Renovations..

So...we are in the process of some more home renovating and I continute to wonder to myself...what the hell were we thinking. Granted, the end result is always worth it. But it's that in between time that has me super stressed out and just wanted my house back to normal. We decided that we would get rid of the wallpaper in our kitchen, foyer and staircase leading to the basement. And then get rid of our carpet in the dining room and the butt ugly fake looking brick tiles in the kitchen and foyer.

The kitchen wallpaper was a breeze, but when we got to the foyer, we ran into a HUGE mess. Thank goodness Steve had a friend that fixed our wall for us. The lovely people that put up the super thick 70's wallpaper in the foyer didn't prime the wall before hand. So we ended up with a wall that was partially ripped up and missing parts of drywall. That is all done and painted now and we are just waiting on our new flooring. We were supposed to get that today, but the stuff we purchased is warped. So on to another halt in the process. They will be giving us our money back and we will be purchasing something else. Hopefully this will be done soon! It's really hard to wash your dishes when you can't get to the sink!

pictures to come!

Bad Blogger

So...I've been awful at keeping up on the blogging. I haven't done anything since before the wedding. Well everything went great! and the honeymoon was fabulous! If you are my friend on facebook, you can see all the updates there.I am going to try to make a point to blog more often. I have a habit of checking everyone else's updates but making none of my own. So let's see if I can keep up! :-)

Busy, Busy, Busy

So, I haven't had a chance to update in a while. With less than a month till the wedding and honeymoon, I haven't really thought much about blogging. I'm sure at some point I will actually sit down and get some real updates on here. Until then, I'm trying to get everything ready for my first trip out of the country in 10 years! Any suggestion on good reading material would be appreciated! I'm excited to finally have time to read a good book!
